Lakme Fashion Week 2011

March 21st, 2011

Lakme Fashion Week, held in Mumbai, India, showcased some of the best talent the country has to offer. The Summer/Resort 2011 show kicked off on March 10th and featured such designers as Preeti S Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Gauri & Nainika, and one of our favorites, Satya Paul. Satya Paul is known for his beautiful signature prints with vibrant colors that are both elegant and playful. The theme for Paul's show this year was "The Jewels of the Sea" and as you will see, it was appropriately named. Using such rich fabrics as georgette, crepe, chiffon, and organza, these designs were quite reminiscent of elements of the sea whether it be the shades of blue Paul used, the ruffles representing waves of the ocean, or the subtelty of the embroidered flora and fauna of the ocean. We love Satya Paul designs and we hope you enjoy his show! Enjoy :)

Bloggers Day of Silence

March 18th, 2011

On March 11th, 2011 Japan was rocked by one of the largest earthquakes in history with a 9.0 magnitude. This earthquake spawned a 30 foot wall of water in the form of a tsunami that has completely devastated the land killing thousands of people and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless. Today, bloggers are taking a day of silence in observance of the recent catastrophe in Japan. We are praying for all those affected by this disaster and urge everyone to do anything they can. The repercussions of this earthquake and tsunami will last for years to come.

Nice Day for a Bright Wedding

March 15th, 2011

We had so much fun planning this wedding at the Hyatt Huntington Beach. The couple wanted to incorporate bright colors for their ceremony that would compliment the gorgeous backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. We chose fuschia and orange with accents of green and yellow and it was perfect for this beautiful summer day in Huntington Beach! The bride loves peacocks so the florist created this stunning piece complete with real feathers and the colors matched the ceremony and cocktail area perfectly.
For the reception, we chose to do a completely different color scheme using creams and blushes making it really elegant with feminine touches.
The lighting was really beautiful and really warmed up the room with ambers and shades of pink that always make everyone look good :)

Manish Malhotra

March 2nd, 2011

Manish Malhotra is one of the most successful fashion designers in India. He started out designing for popular Bollywood movies and gained recognition through the beautiful actresses he would dress. We love the fact that he experiments with colors and fabrics using organzas, chiffons, velvets and lots of bead work. Not only are the women's looks amazing, but the men's designs are quite gorgeous as well! This is Malhotra's Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. Enjoy!

  • #Repost @archdigest - #JacquesArpels was inspired by the clover shapes in architecture inspiring him to design his famous Alhambra collection, which is also our inspiration for one of our upcoming events! #inspirationeverywhere #designinspiration #eventdesign #alhambra #moorisharchitecture #vancleefarpels ・・・
Half a century ago, inspired by the decorative patterns Jacques Arpels observed on his travels, @vancleefarpels launched Alhambra—a clover-shaped gold medallion resembling a Moorish quatrefoil. “As an architectural element, it appears in almost every culture,” says Van Cleef & Arpels’s current president and CEO, Nicolas Bos. “In jewelry, it’s just as adaptable.” Today the French luxury brand remains captivated by the motif, having reimagined it in myriad styles and stones. This past May, to mark the Alhambra collection’s 50th anniversary, Van Cleef launched nine new pieces with a party at the 16th-century El Badi Palace in Marrakech. While celebrating with them, AD found a few more not-to-miss sights in Marrakech, including the 14th-century Islamic college Ben Youssef Madrasa pictured here.
