An Exquisite Thanksgiving!

November 27th, 2015

We're taking a pause from our 4-part blog post to share a little bit about our family Thanksgiving! It has become a tradition every year for Madiha and Osman to host the Thanksgiving feast at their home and this year was no exception.  Cajun deep fried turkey and regular turkey from Neiman Marcus is very much a part of that tradition also.  Madiha painstakingly sets the most beautiful table and the feast is decadent enough to put all great chefs to shame.  Osman's sister Nadia is a great chef and between the two of them, they whip up the most delicious and gourmet side dishes.  This year, Nikki's Mom was present at Thanksgiving too and enjoyed being around three generations, her kids, grand kids and great grand kids.  It was also first time that Madiha's in-laws were in LA to experience Thanksgiving.  Madiha's mother-in-law baked pecan and pumpkin pies from scratch and they were a perfect end to a delicious dinner.  Needless to say it was a meal enjoyed by all immensely amidst jokes, anecdotes, stories and inspiring conversation. Happy Thanksgiving weekend to everyone! We hope your time with family and friends was absolutely Exquisite! Next week, we resume with part 3 of the San Diego Destination Wedding. Aishya and Rohan’s Sangeet (Part 2 of 4)

November 20th, 2015

Our next day event took place at the Chart House in Cardiff. Our Aishya and Rohan opted for a restaurant buyout and wanted to put small tents on the beach for mehndi. When we did the initial walk through, our idea was to have the guests be able to flow indoor and outdoor. After inquiring about the possibility of using the parking lot for that purpose the request was granted and the event plans started coming together. The bride had always expressed the fact she did not have a clear vision about her Sangeet, except for the fact she wanted a bohemian, beach chic vibe. One amazing thing about Cardiff is that the beach is relatively quiet and the noise ordinance does not come into effect until 1 am, which worked out great in our case. The tent frame went up the night before and was then decorated with Raj Tents liners, chandeliers and drapes all through the night.  The carpet was laid in the morning with furniture and props arriving around 12 pm for 4:30 pm arrival time. Smaller tents were installed on the beach with jute rugs and white lounge furniture accented with aqua blue pillows. Our inspiration for the main tent was shades of blue and white. The bar inside the tent along with the DJ booth and dance floor had a water design in blue to pay homage to the beautiful ocean. Flowers were on the minimal side with emphasis on dozens of candles in varying heights, sizes and shapes, all in whites and blues. Nikki and Madiha had hand selected pieces of furniture in white and silver from Hire Elegance and the sofas and chairs were accented with printed and textured pillows in blue. The client had special beach bags made as favors that were stuffed with pashmina shawls, sandals and bangles as favors for ladies. Each item was personalized with the couple’s name and guests were thrilled to receive these takeaways! The guests arrived at 4:30 with a lot of ladies going to the smaller tents for mehndi, while other guests enjoyed the drinks and passed hors d'oeuvres. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous on the beach with enchanting live music being played. The couple arrived and was taken aback by the transformation.  The photographer was present to capture their shots along with family and guest shots. The ambiance was festive, elegant and fun. A special Bollywood dance troupe came from LA to perform along with another dance troupe from San Diego. The client wanted to offer an array of sea food, pasta stations as well as prime rib and salad stations, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all guests. There was a lot of dancing and entertainment, and the evening came to an end past midnight but we were already thinking about the ceremony next day at client’s residence... Mehndi Party with Kantha Patch Work Throw Pillows

November 13th, 2015

This client  booked us two months ago to do her wedding with four back-to-back events.  The first kick off event was to take place at bride's residence in Rancho Santa Fe.   Wheels started turning in motion and once we had a good idea about her themes and colors and after doing a site visit, the color palette was decided for each event. Because the client is in the high end garment business and supplies to high end boutiques in LA and has a huge manufacturing operation in India, we requested to have Kantha work throws and pillows in different colors for the first event.  Kantha work is a highly specialized art of patch work throws in vibrant colors and very distinctive of Rajasthan. On the day of the event, Nikki and Madiha arrived at 9 am and under their supervision, the living room at the house was cleared.  A beautiful traditional swing arrived from LA Laden with fresh flowers where our bride sat for her henna application. Dozens of Kantha work throws were laid on the floor with colorful pillows that were custom made in India for this occasion.  Special furniture and draping in lime green and purple were incorporated in the design. Outside by the pool, a casual vibe was created with a beautiful bar, and lanterns lining up the pool area. The buffet table had a beautiful Buddah and guests noshed on delicious appetizers and Indian fare from various regions of India. The DJ played upbeat Bollywood music and guests danced till late at night. Because the bride had a distinct idea of her henna and had chosen a very intricate pattern, it took eight hours to have the bride's henna completed with her taking breaks in between!  Close family members and friends got their henna as well.  It was a beautiful event saturated with a lot of color and still had elegance and charm about it.   Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party Exquisite Events Mehndi Party   Thanks for all the help from our vendors:

Fig and Olive Newport Beach Reception

November 6th, 2015

When Nikki’s friend approached her to plan her wedding reception, she was beyond thrilled as she is very fond of her. After doing a design walkthrough and getting inspiration from the couple, Nikki was able to put a mood board together.   It consisted of a very simple design in ivory and blush and the pop of color was added with deep red rose petals and roses. Fig and Olive in Newport Beach presented the perfect backdrop as it exudes simple and understated elegance.  As always, Nikki’s thought was to have at least two to three chair covers and florals to add interest. Special consideration was given to lighting as always which was simple yet very tasteful. A simple matte satin linen graced all the tables and chair covers from Wildflower Linen added the oomph. A carefully curated menu was chosen for this special occasion with delectable specialty drink in the blush tone and a great array of mocktails and cocktails. Guests were greeted at the private entrance which was lined with clear glass pillars and lanterns and photographer was present to take photos of each and every guest with the couple.   Amidst beautiful music, tray passed beverages and delectable hors d'oeuvres, guests mingled for an hour until they were requested to take their seats. The couple made the grand entrance after the children’s entrance and after a lovely welcome toast, children made heartfelt and emotional short speeches. Guests enjoyed their seated meal which was served in three courses and once the dessert bar opened, there was a lot of movement and mingling. The night came to an end at midnight when guests departed wishing a ton of good wishes to the newly married couple. We wish you the best in life Haida and Yuman!
