Trip to Korea

November 17th, 2017

When Youngsong Martin of Wildflower Linen called Niki about the opportunity to do a wedding in Korea, she did not hesitate. This trip was shortly after she had returned from Dubai from her speaking engagement.

They reached Korea on Sunday morning and were met with the hotel driver.

Paradise City, the resort where our couple had chosen to get married is only a few minutes drive from the airport and is a beautiful property. Just opened in April 2017, this luxurious resort is a mix of imagination and reality. The decor is modern accented by 'art-tainment" - a blend of art and entertainment. This place is a perfect getaway - home to seven restaurants, a bowling alley, health & wellness center, high tech casino, and more.

The suite was spacious and done up beautifully. It was just about 6 am when we arrived at the hotel. After a quick shower, we ordered breakfast.

We decided to go down and familiarize ourselves with all the spaces before our first meeting at 11 am. Our much deliberation we decided to hold the couple’s cocktail hour and reception in the ore function space out side the main ballroom. With its 30 ft high ceilings and dramatic chandeliers it was a perfect space. There was also a discussion about the after party taking place in the stunning night club at the Resort.

It was a packed day with back to back meetings with everyone from the hotel that was going to be a part of this wedding as well as few outside vendors.

We were then treated to a most fabulous sushi lunch at Raku located at the Resort with the executive chef and sous chef preparing the most decadent nine course meal.

Our bride was able to join us by now also which made the lunch more special. The meal was followed by a few more meetings with the chef and banquet team where the bride went through her favorite dishes she had tried earlier.

Dinner was hosted by the owner/chairwoman of the Resort, a very elegant lady who is deeply involved in every aspect of the resort. This special dinner was in the private dining room of the Chinese restaurant Imperial Treasure which is decorated with a statement Bacarat chandelier and done in tones of red.

The magnificent dinner lasted for a couple of hours with stimulating conversation, decadent food and amazing company. We came up to our suite at 10 pm and crashed knowing that the next day was going to be very full. We also had to check out to go to Seoul to visit the church where the ceremony was going to take place and meet some more vendors.

Stay tuned for the post on Seoul!

Terrace Dinner & After Party at Pelican Hill

November 10th, 2017

Celebrations continued on the lawn until it was time to seat the guests for dinner. The sun was just setting and the sky was getting dark. Golden candle light spread throughout the dinner space along with warm candle like glow of the ambient lighting was enough to create a magical setting. Guests entered the Terrace with lovely tunes played by the band and once seated, our good looking couple made their grand entrance from the staircase which was lined with dozens of lanterns. It was a perfect story book moment as they both looked radiant and beautiful and happy.

Paris and Alex made their way to the dance floor for their first dance and everything became still.

The air was filled with romance and amazing energy. Guests could view the rotunda from the Terrace with the lit up chandeliers and the lawn in soft gold lighting.

Guests enjoyed the decadent meal prepared by the chef and amidst speeches by siblings, toast by the two fathers and mother/son and father/daughter dances the dance floor was opened for all guests to partake. Our couple cut their gorgeous cake and the band made an announcement for guests to proceed upstairs for the after party. Paris wanted to carry the same colors and style for the after party.

Mar Vista room had a club-vibe with amber ambient lighting accompanied by ivory and gold lounge furniture. A huge circular gold bar sat in the sun room across from the band stage and gold dance floor bearing letter “ F” in ivory to honor groom’s last name.

Guests entered to the upbeat sound of music and the dance floor was full in no time. An amazing array of desserts including a variety of Lebanese desserts which were ordered by Alex’s Mom awaited to be consumed. Late night snacks were served close to midnight and this memorable and enchanting evening came to an end.

The best part for us was to of course plan this wedding but in the end form that amazing bond with the couple and their families. We will always cherish this relationship and wish our lovely couple Paris and Alex life time of happiness.

Elegant Nuptials & Cocktail Hour at Pelican Hill

November 3rd, 2017

One of the most dreamt about wedding location is The Resort at Pelican Hill and not only because of its breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, but it is truly the definition of luxury and elegance. Just tucked off the coast of Newport Beach, with the peaceful setting of olive trees, lavender and the iconic rotunda this is one of most sought after locations to wed. And this is where Paris and Alex decided on for their nuptials and reception.

After the initial design walk through it was decided that the Rotunda Lawn would be used for ceremony and cocktail hour for their 300 guests. Paris had a very clear vision about the design and colors for her event and wanted something very European and to exude understated elegance. With much deliberation, she decided to go with ivory chiffon fabric to cover the columns of the imposing Rotunda structure and keep the cream, white and ivory for her flower palette.

Three beautiful crystal chandeliers in different sizes and shapes embellished the inside of Rotunda while two large urns with gorgeous flowers graced the outside of Rotunda. Flowers lined the aisle for our lovely bride to walk down. Chivari chairs dressed in ivory chiffon was another testament to Paris’s timeless classic taste.

An eight piece string orchestra was ready to start as guests arrived. The other half of the lawn decor was a perfect compliment to the ceremony area with ivory lounge furniture in Classic French Regency style and the cocktail tables dressed with the same chiffon linen as the chairs completed the cohesive look. The end result was ethereal, romantic and elegant.

The two mothers looked fabulous in their gowns along with the entire bridal party. Our radiant bride walked down the aisle in her Vera Wang gown with her Dad to meet her handsome groom in Ralph Lauren. While the string music was playing. Weather could not have been more perfect with sun not being intense, clear ocean view and slight breeze, it was a magical set up. Bishop performed the beautiful ceremony and the air was filled with romance and magic. Once the bridal party and couple walked at the recessional it was all about cheers, joy and laughter. Guests transitioned to the cocktail area where servers were ready to pass champagne and delicious hors deouvers. The bars were open on both sides which became busy quickly. A table was dedicated for the guest book where guests could write warm wishes for the couple. A large mirror bearing seating chart for the guests further added to the ambiance. With lovely music, delicious food and drinks, amazing setting and most importantly our good looking couple and their families and friends, it certainly was a night to remember.

Stay tuned for our reception and after party next week!

Planners Xtraordinaire 2017

October 27th, 2017

When the invitation came to speak at Planners Xtraordinaire, a conference on Luxury weddings and events, Nikki did not hesitate. Icing on the cake was that the event was taking place in Dubai. The congress started on October 3rd with a cocktail party to kick off with two days dedicated to speakers and panelists.

Nikki reached Dubai on the evening of October 2nd and was met with the driver who dropped her off to the hotel. Palazzo Versace Hotel is a new property and is located in the newer part of Dubai.

Next morning she met up with two friends who live in Dubai and had an insightful discussion about life in Dubai.

After checking out the hotel it was time for a quick nap and then get ready for the cocktail party. The group was picked up and taken to Palace Hotel where the party was held outside on the terraces surrounded by Dubai skyline and in front of the famous Burj Khalifa. The water show was spectacular and the tall buildings awe inspiring. The evening was all about saying hello to old friends, make new friends, enjoy great food, entertainment and city views.
Nikki and Toni Breiss at the Cocktail Party.

Next morning conference was kicked off with Nikki’s Friend Diann Valentine who spoke about “What is Luxury". With great panels and speakers, the conference was thought provoking and interesting.
Day one of the conference with Frieha Altaf who represented Pakistan.

Evening was our gala dinner at the Cavali Club which was very enjoyable and impressive band from Monaco who kept the guests on their feet.

Final morning of conference started with the panel which Nikki was a part of. The moderator did a fantastic job of asking relevant and intelligent questions and the conference ended with Toni Breiss’s talk.

Lunch was as always enjoyed by all with foods from various parts of the globe. A glimpse of our international table at lunch with friends from Italy, Pakistan, Ireland, Brazil and USA!

Nikki and another speaker and friend at the conference decided to hire a driver and guide to venture to Old Dubai and visit the Souk. Needless to say it was a very interesting experience. That night after the souk was a visit to Dubai Mall which puts every Mall to shame. The sheer size and variety of shops, restaurants etc is over whelming. Next morning on her last day she ventured out to Abu Dhabi to see the Grand Mosque and was awe struck by the architecture and sheer beauty of the structure.

Next day was early morning flight back to LA with lovely memories of Dubai and the amazing group of professionals from Q and A who had organized the Congress. Kudos to the entire group for doing a great job.

An Ethereal Grande Finale Reception

October 20th, 2017

Our grand finale was icing on the cake. After the early morning Barat followed by breakfast, ceremony, lunch, cocktail hour on the same day came the evening hour of our grand finale reception.

The bride and Nikki had spend countless hours on the phone going over the design elements. She still wanted understated elegance which was also ethereal. The room was carpeted in ivory matching the ivory draping on the walls. Gold tassels added to the drama. Long smokey mirror tables with rounds were a perfect compliment to the design specially with tall centerpieces covering the middle of each table.

The stage backdrop was simple and elegant and ivory dance floor bearing couple's names was again tied to create a cohesive look. Lighting was in warm amber candle light color and added to the romantic vibe.

Bride popped in her beautiful red outfit while the groom was dashing in his tuxedo.

The evening from the time guests entered to the couple's grand entrance, first dance, welcome toast, cake cutting, speeches was flawless. Guests noshed on delicious meal prepared by Amber India while also enjoying the photo booth outside in the foyer. The evening had amazing energy and ambiance and the dance floor was packed the entire evening proving this was indeed a successful event.

Special thank you to our partnerss!

Napa-inspired Ceremony

October 13th, 2017

Sonia and Shaan's parents booked our services eight months before their wedding date in November of 2016. Month of July 2017 was decided and after much search on the two venues for their Sangeet and the main events, Fairmont San Jose and Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay were booked. Since the couple got engaged in Napa, they wanted to bring the Napa vibe for their wedding. After much deliberation and many phone calls, a color palette of ivory and green was decided for their ceremony and reception. A thorough design walk thru was conducted at Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay with the couple and not only did we discuss all main design components but also the flow of events from Barat, ceremony, post ceremony lunch, cocktail hour and dinner reception.

After returning from the initial trip, we went to work to create the story board incorporating all design elements and proposals based on those. After much deliberation and phone calls, final decisions were made around June when Nikki and team flew for the mock up. Actual linens, chargers and napkins were brought in from LA and the table had the ethereal and elegant vibe the bride was looking for. Upon bride's request even a section of mandap was shown with flowers and after some tweaking all was confirmed. Rest of the afternoon was spent in discussing time line and flow of events with the couple and both families. Nikki and her team flew to Northern California a few days before the event to manage deliveries and set up.

Ceremony site was Ocean Lawn and bride chose an open structure so not to block the ocean view. It was a simple and elegant set up and bride was a vision in Sabyasachi when she walked down the aisle.

Ceremony ended with couple and families taking photos while guests made their way for lunch. Ocean lawn was again chosen for cocktail hour and Nikki chose crisp white color for this setup. A huge circular white bar sat atop where the mandap was in the morning. There were white lounge furniture vignettes, high boys and cocktail tables adorned with white linens and flowers. Multiple large mirrors bearing guest names for seating were displayed on the lawn and guests noshed on delectable bites and beverages amidst beautiful music.

They had yet another surprise to come to which was the reception. Stay tuned for the reception in next week blog.

Sangeet with a Moroccan Twist

October 6th, 2017

We were so excited to plan Sonia and Shaan’s wedding since it was a destination wedding and we were thrilled to head up North to the Bay Area. Festivities kicked off with the Sangeet at the Fairmont San Jose. It was a Moroccan theme with festive colors like pinks, oranges, golds and turquoise. The colors really brought the celebration to life.

Gorgeous lanterns, candles and ornate pillows were brought in to decorate the room.

The furniture and tents surrounded a large custom designed dance floor that made such a statement in the ballroom.

All eyes let you to the couples stage. There was an assortment of golden lanterns hanging against the pink draped linen, accented by the golden curtains and tied with floral arrangements.

Guests danced the night away to a live band and were treated to the most delicious food stations that served international cuisines; one of which was our favorite Burmese dish, Kow Sway which they were making to order and was absolutely divine.

Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks as we feature the ceremony & reception!

Fab & Forty Birthday Celebration

September 29th, 2017

As Nikki always says that the best part about being in this business is "your friends become your dear clients and your clients become your dear friends." Such was the case with Alex. When we first met him it was like working with any client and she could sense him questioning everything. To his credit he had never hired a planner before and he wanted to throw 40th birthday party for his wife that was out of the box. He was also very particular about creating an experience for his guests and therefore we chose to hold the event at the new OUE Skyspace in downtown. At seventy one stories high, it is the tallest building in Downtown Los Angeles and needless to say the views are spectacular.

Great Gatsby theme was chosen to also pay compliment to building interiors which are black, gold and white. At the first design walk through, our thought was to make the celebration not only interactive but that appealed and touched all five senses. We threw ideas back and forth and discussed the layout of the event. At the second walk through we invited all the vendors that we're going to play a vital role at this event including our caterer Wolfgang Puck's team. Menu was discussed in great detail along with lighting, DJ, rentals and a few others. We then discussed the entire guest experience from the time they arrived to the location, to check-in at the lobby that was handled by two Exquisite Event staff members. Guests were then escorted to 54th floor for the experience and finally 70th floor where the event was taking place.

A black carpet runner with black and gold rope and stanchion was placed in front of the step and repeat bearing Lizna's name and logo. Our entertainers wearing Great Gatsby attire welcomed the guests while photographer took photos of the arrivals. The formal entry into the event space was draped in black velvet and gold tassels. As guests entered the space, two over sized flower arrangements with white feathers, flowers and draped in pearls sat atop tables to create the big WOW factor.

Our ladies from the entertainment group in Gatsby attire stood at the entrance to greet the guests and waiters stood carrying specialty drinks to offer.

Entire space was transformed with black and gold custom furniture and lighting was chosen to create a candle like mood in chocolate brown and warm amber.

Great Gatsby movie was playing on a loop behind the DJ booth. Dance floor was black with gold logo of the birthday girl. Wolfgang's team did a superb job with food. Initial hour was tray passed hors d'eouvers with food stations opening shortly after consisting of sushi, sashimi, steak and slider station and decadent array of desserts.

We had hired an amazing magician who strolled the crowd and entertained guests along with photo booth and Gatsby dancers who opened the dance floor after performing a number. Lizna was invited by the magician on the dance floor where he performed a trick and then invited her to cut the cake.

Our Gatsby entertainers sang happy birthday with all guests joining in. High light of the evening was when Alex and Lizna's children spoke to their mother in the most eloquent manner. Alex thanked his guests for coming. Late night snacks were tray passed at midnight and the party lasted till 2 am. and ended on a very high note. The best thing for Exquisite Events was to work with Alex and in the end develop this amazing friendship. The best compliment Nikki received was when she would suggest some idea as they got closer to the party date he would say " I defer that to you ". We look forward to creating many more special memories for this special couple and their friends.

70th Birthday Party

September 22nd, 2017

When a good friend approached us to plan her husband's surprise 70th birthday party, we were ecstatic. The party was literally planned in one week. Everything that client loved was incorporated in the evening from the menu, desserts, favorite color, band etc.

Since red was his favorite color we decided to incorporate that in our flowers and lighting. Client's home is clean and modern with outdoors and indoors all becoming one area. Mirror tables accented with silver chivari chairs were used as an L shape extending from the inside to outside. Flowers in all shades and hues of reds lined the tables in various modern containers with candles dispersed throughout the center of the table. White chargers in marble along with flatware with white handles gave a masculine vibe while red napkins gave that pop of color. Pressed glass water goblets along with different champagne flutes further elevated the table setting. Once it got dark, red lighting created a romantic and elegant ambiance.

It was a beautiful night and when clients danced under the perfectly lit starry night to the song " unforgettable " it was pure magic. Couples danced to the live jazz band and enjoyed decadent food. Cake cutting was heartwarming with band singing happy birthday and the entire family who had traveled from near and far joining in. Needless to say our client was truly surprised and enjoyed the night immensely.
