Arti and Raj’s Wedding: Part 1

November 29th, 2011

When Raj and Arti first met, it wasn’t love at first sight, but Arti and her friends from university called him “Raj blue eyes.??? They knew each other only in passing, casually saying hello in the hallway, but Christmas of 2006 brought them both to a downtown Calgary restaurant, and the beginnings of a conversation that would last a lifetime. From the moment they were together, Arti knew she didn’t want to be without him, but the moment when she knew he was the man for her forever came about five months later on 5th Avenue, where they found themselves walking after dinner, his arm around her shoulder, talking about everything and nothing, laughing and having fun. Arti looked up Raj and she knew that she was already on the journey of a lifetime. The proposal was quintessential Raj and Arti. They were away for the weekend in Banff, hanging out in their hotel room after a delicious dinner, watching Wedding Crashers and just enjoying being together. Arti didn’t know it yet, but Raj had taken her father to lunch the week before, and during Wedding Crashers, he would place a box in her hand and the rest would become a blur. Raj and Arti’s wedding was designed by Nikki Khan of Exquisite Events, who specializes in creating perfect Indian and Pakistani weddings, parties and special events. Stay tuned next week for Arti and Raj's beautiful ceremony! Nikki Khan Presenting at Wedding Symposium

November 28th, 2011

Hi Everyone! The 2012 Wedding Faire will feature a series of classes called "The Wedding Symposium".  They have invited me and three other wedding planners (Preston Bailey, Sasha Souza, and Bryan Rafanellito) to share our expertise and teach both brides & industry professionals about our style, innovation and an up close and personal view of how we create amazing weddings! This is an unparalleled experience that includes workshops, designer décor, mentoring sessions, a wedding luncheon and book signing. I will be teaching a special session called Creating Opulent Cultural Weddings on Friday, January 6 for event professionals and Sunday, January 8 for brides. I hope to see all of you there! Madiha at Hummingbird Nest Ranch

November 15th, 2011

Youngsong Martin of Wildflower Linens  and I came up with the idea of doing a photo shoot that was slightly different.  Our concept and story began with the idea of the hostess that is throwing a dinner for her close friends and realizes at the eleventh hour that she does not have a gown to wear; hence her gown becomes part of her table linen.  I wanted to use my china and silverware for this shoot and Sunny of White Lilac, Youngsong of Wildflower Linen and I created a table scape with Madiha of Exquisite Events as the model. The shoot was challenging because Madiha had to be draped on the table, and Young did an amazing job making this look fabulous!  The backdrop was an overwhelming bolder and the shoot took place at the beautiful Hummingbird Nest Ranch amidst the olive grove.  Sunny did an amazing job creating that goth feeling and the mismatched china was perfect to fit our vision.  In the end, we were extremely pleased with the photos and hope you enjoy them as well. Jitin and Anshita

November 10th, 2011

Jitin and Anshita held their Punjabi Hindu ceremony at the Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes, California. It was the fourth day of their beautiful five days of wedding festivities! The groom showed up for the baraat on Tai the elephant, a famous actor who played Rosie in Water for Elephants. The bride and groom's family arrived dancing to the sounds of the dhol played by Jag Tooray of Dholnation. It was a gorgeous day and the views of the coastline were amazing! Pundit Arun Dwivedi conducted their traditional Punjabi Hindu ceremony  under the white chiffon mandap. The reception was held in the main ballroom and guests enjoyed an amazing dinner, dancing and music by Nauzad Sadry. Videography: Robles Video Productions
