Dali Inspired 60th Birthday Celebration

October 11th, 2019

We had the honor of planning an epic 60th birthday celebration for a client. This was by far the most exciting, complexed and involved event of our career and took hundreds of hours, countless meetings and phone calls. The inspiration of the event was Salvador Dali as the client loved surrealism and specifically Dali. Our client wanted to provide the guests with unmatched experience and it turned out to be just that and more.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted by Dietrich Dames and Dapper Gentlemen. The front entrance was hedged off and the neon sign “Dali’s Den of Delight" aroused curiosity. Then a violinist was atop the marble staircase wearing a red gown with dramatic train that cascaded down the stairs. Two dapper gentlemen were standing outside the multi-layered drapery entrance to usher guests in the foyer. Cocktail hour was a sensory overload with two custom walls painted in gold with medallions and cut outs where white gloves hands were exposed carrying champagne flutes to serve the guests.

There were food station installations from hanging chickens with deviled eggs underneath, to pasta wall and gezpacho station where servers dressed in yellow rain coats and boots served gezpacho from watering cans. In another corner was an ice cream cart bearing tray of spicy tuna cones.

Two girls dressed in Cuban attire passed philly cheese steak cigar rolls on trays around necks. Since client is a cigar aficionado and his wife had collected beautiful cigar boxes over the years, those boxes were inserted on two custom walls with guests names and a surrealistic symbol (rose, red lips, mustache, boxing glove and telephone) that identified their table segment inside the ballroom.

An over the top red fabric tunnel with black monkey chandeliers and sconces was erected for the guests formal entrance to the dining room.

When time came for the guests to move to the second phase of the dining room, they were lead by a band and upon entrance the guests jaws dropped in sheer surprise. Dining room was a visual and sensory feast.

Long Chandelier Tables had custom gold framed with red roses coming down. Tables had the flowers in deep colors bearing fruits. Black candle abras and candles added to the glamour. Each place setting was dressed with black custom made charger with the guest’s name in gold.

Stemware, flatware and most importantly the Fornesetti plates elevated the experience. Napkins which had the menu printed on, were placed on the back of each chair in a slit that was created for this event. Each course was curated to match the vibe and ambiance with content on LED walls, entertainment and lighting.

Prized wines and champagne from a private collection were served and in short guests experienced a night unlike any other.
Stay turned for details from the after party!

Inspiration from “Indian Summer”

October 4th, 2019

We constantly look at nature, events, fashion shows and window installations among many other sources of inspiration to keep abreast on trends, colors, vibe etc. This past weekend, Nikki happened to be in Las Vegas and of course seeing the installation at Bellagio Conservatory was her top priority specially given the fact it was designed by her very dear friend Ed Libby.

Witnessing the burst of color and grandeur of the installation with Bengal Tigers, Huge elephants bearing regal thrones for the grooms who looked equally grand and royal, the most beautifully embellished throws, tons of umbrellas with hanging tassels, a gazebo that can serve the purpose of a Mandap, Hanu Maan (one of Hindu Gods), tons of paisleys in fresh and vibrant colors, needless to say it was a feast for eyes and stimulated visual senses.

We are inspired by Ed’s creativity and this particular installation appropriately called “Indian Summer“ hit too close to home. We would highly encourage all our readers to go see it if they are planning a trip to Vegas before they take it down in November.

Summer Soirée Kick Off

August 30th, 2019

When our client approached us for a summer soirée to host a kick off party for their friend’s son’s wedding, we were over the moon. This special client has been very near and dear to our hearts as we have done several events of them over the years and as a result, a very special bond has developed between us.

We suggested to go with yellow and green colors to compliment the surroundings and the end result was ethereal and lush. All the furniture was wooden and was carefully curated for this evening. Wooden dining tables, bars, two different styles of wooden chairs and several vignettes strategically placed on the lawn, patio and around the pool area.
Blush lighting created a magical aura and with the perfect entertainment, delicious food, specialty cocktails, spirits wines, and decadent ambiance, guests enjoyed themselves immensely. The night lasted until late amidst a lot of dancing and good time was had by all.

Special thank you to our partners!

Enchanted Forest Fairy Tale

July 26th, 2019

We met Nadine and her mother in September of 2018 and felt an instant connection due to a few common friends. Nadine had a very clear vision about her event and wanted it to feel like a movie. She wanted the cocktail hour to reflect "Woodlands" with art installations for photo along with furniture vignettes giving organic vibes. Dinner was going to be set on the lawn and the theme was "Enchanted Forest" and the last part of the evening was planned in Mar Vista Ballroom with "Tropical Forest" vibe.

There were several walk thru’s and design meetings and after working on multiple diagrams, final version was selected. Color palette of green, cream and hints of pink were chosen and the mock up was hugely successful. Production began a full day prior to the event and the entire team worked in a cohesive manner in spite of challenges with the space. A raised aisle and circular dance floor created a dramatic effect.

Rotunda lawn looked like an enchanted forest with tons of chandeliers hanging around the perimeter and above the dance floor. A seven foot cake sat atop a riser inside the rotunda with crystal chandeliers hanging above. Couple’s stage was set in front of the rotunda with the towering cake as the backdrop.

Tons of candles and flowers created an enchanted and ethereal vibe. The icing on the cake were two LED screens projecting images of enchanted forest, butterflies, waterfalls etc and the effect was magical.

Once the guests were seated, our groom made his entrance accompanied by a saxophone player and his groomsmen. Our Bride dressed in a stunning gown and looking beyond beautiful made her entrance down the aisle on her father’s arm. She was lead by violinists and flower girls. After a lot of dancing, couple left for photos and then made Grand Entrance as a couple. Guests enjoyed cirque acts and were entertained by a soprano, singers, Arab band, piano player and a singer during a sumptuous four course dinner. Once the cake was cut, guests were escorted upstairs for the after party by Samba Dancers.

The Mar Vista Ballroom was set up with decadent and sumptuous dessert display along with Persian Tea Station. Guests danced the night away and the most successfully planned and executed wedding came to an end. We have become very fond of the entire family and there is a sense of strong bond that will always prevail.

Wishing our lovely couple life time of happiness!

Al Fresco Dinner Reception

July 12th, 2019

A few months back our very dear client approached us to plan a dinner reception in honor of her last child and his bride. That kind of trust and compliment, as gratifying as it is, also comes with a serious responsibility specially when you have build a history with that client. Having planned two of her children’s weddings and considering this was the last child, we were truly humbled and honored to be a part of this very special occasion.

This dinner reception was to take place at their estate. We immediately scheduled a design walk thru with the team. In order to accommodate her guests, we had to cover the pool which worked out beautifully as it gave an illusion of a large lawn. Couple’s and family table was set under the existing gazebo. Client expressed the desire to have something chic, elegant, lose and not stuffy. Keeping that in mind, a very pale blush linen was chosen with lose and airy flowers that blended with the surroundings and did not look over done. The effect was understated and ethereal. Guests were treated to delicious butler passed hor’s deouvres and beverages inside the house and were then escorted to the lawn for al fresco dining. Delicious dinner and interactive dessert stations added to the ambiance and with lovely jazz music, great company and interesting conversation, guests seemed to have had a fabulous time. Most of all our dear client and her family were over the moon.

We wish the couple life time of happiness and a blissful life!

Special thank you to all the partners who made it possible!

Brilliance of Design Swarovski at MASS Beverly Hills

March 8th, 2019

A couple of weeks ago, Nikki was invited by a dear friend Peter Köppel to attend a lunch at Mass Beverly. This was soon after her trip to Austria and experiencing the grandeur of Swarovski up close.

The afternoon was fabulously curated and included A Panel Discussion On Interior Design Solutions moderated by Meyer Rus, Westcoast Editor Architectural Digest. Brilliant panelists included Nadja Swarovski, Tord Boontje, Designer and Swarovski Collaborator and Lars Hypko, Co-Founder Mass Beverly. It was an intriguing, informative and exceptional discussion and the afternoon showcased Swarovski lighting, Architecture and Interior Solutions, Alongside Atelier Swarovski's home decor and jewelry collections. Decadent lunch was served with mingling and socializing while guests walked around admiring the beautiful installations of lighting fixtures, Swarovski studded garments and beautiful objects for home decor.

Looking forward to attending more events from Swarovski in the future.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Party

February 15th, 2019

It is an absolute compliment when our past clients reach out to us time and again. Such was the case with this client. We had planned and designed his wife’s 40th birthday party with a fabulous Great Gatsby Theme where guests stayed and danced until the wee hours of the morning. This time he wanted to invite a few couples from his YPO group to his home.

Since the party was a day before Valentines Day, it was a natural progression to have the theme represented in full swing. Clients dining table was covered in the most elegant linen of cream and gold. Gold chargers, taupe napkins, pink and gold rim glassware and gold flatware exuded understated elegance.

Flowers were all in shades of pinks to deep reds and gold and pink candles added further to the decadence. Client’s credenza was filled with pink and gold votives and candles and flowers were placed everywhere in the house.

Our butler received the guests and escorted them to the family room where they enjoyed delicious canapés and champagne. Beautiful and soft jazz played in the background and guests were escorted to the dining room for a decadent dining experience.

After being served hot soup and salad, the entrees which looked like pieces of art were brought out and served to the guests. Wines were paired with each course and amidst brilliant conversation and laughs, the cuisine was enjoyed by all tremendously. Instead of serving dessert at the table, we had decided to have an elaborate dessert display with coffee and tea. This was so guests could enjoy moving about and chit chatting while having the desserts.

It was a beautiful night filled with magic, romance and elegance. Each couple was presented with flowers upon departing along with a book on LOVE and the menus that had been printed for this special dinner. Needless to say I would have loved to have been a guest at this decadent table!

We can’t wait to do more events for these special clients who have become our friends.

Exquisite Travels: Back to Lahore

February 1st, 2019

Lahore is a city that is very close to Nikki’s heart. She spent her growing years in this city and has always been inspired by the culture, architecture, thriving art scene and theater this city has to offer. It was no wonder when she visited this past December after a few years, it was nourishing for her soul.

From the crowded markets to museums, old buildings dating back to Mughal era as well as sights, smells and sounds that took her back to her childhood days.

Here is a little glimpse of what was accomplished in her first few days of arrival. Shaila and Tahir Andrabi are a couple who reside in Claremont, and Tahir is a professor at the University. They have been in Lahore for the last six months where Tahir is on a sabbatical at LUMS, a very prestigious university in Lahore. Shaila has innate desire to learn as much about the city as possible, and to my knowledge, no one has soaked up what Lahore has to offer than this couple. In other words, they have become “True Lahoris.” Their three children who reside in the States were visiting the parents in Lahore and the couple invited family and friends to a brunch inside the walled city. The menu consisted of most popular dishes from various restaurants and were served in the most authentic style. The venue was Shahi Hamam which literally means “Royal Spa“ and is about 400 years old. Guests were welcomed by a violinist playing nostalgic tunes. Our hosts had done up the venue beautifully and their warmth and love made it the most enjoyable day. Guests were given private guided tour of the Hamam as well as Wazir Khan Mosque which has been restored to its former glory. Below are a few images of the day.
