Love Always Prevails

May 21st, 2020

Our industry is going to change, but change also presents an opportunity to reset, restart and create a strong foundation for the event industry. After shelter in place orders are lifted and life starts to return to the new normal, events will start off very small and intimate for up to 10-20 people. These will either take place at private homes or smaller boutique luxury properties.

Emphasis will be on creating bespoke events, creating novel experiences with strong emphasis on quality. Even after clear guidelines are provided, it will take some time for consumer confidence to return where guests feel comfortable attending large gatherings. At this time, it is safe to think that this will not be until the vaccine is developed.

Couples would not want to sacrifice on decor, menu or entertainment details. Hotels and venues will have to be extremely careful about sanitization and provide strict safety measures. Cleaning facilities will be increased. Venues will adhere to the guide lines from the back of the house to the front of the house. Kitchen employees will need to be wearing hair nets and gloves at all times. All cooking and prepping surfaces will need to be thoroughly sanitized several times in the day. When the courses are brought out for a sit down meal, servers will need to be wearing gloves. Even if and when buffet stations make a come back, there will be servers wearing the hair nets and gloves serving the guests. Larger ballrooms or spaces are going to be used to create intimate gatherings keeping social distance in mind.

Event industry will have to adapt and adjust to the new normal. We for see tent weddings to be popular due to the fact it is outdoors and you can have the option to keep the walls open, so fresh air can breeze through. Planners or coordinators whose role is of a "captain of the ship" will also have to make sure the vendors that are checking in are in good health and following the sanitary requirements according to the guidelines. They will need to have temperature taken and only allowed to work if they show no signs of illness.

Our industry is resilient and will have to adjust and adapt but this too shall pass and the day is going to come when we are celebrating large gatherings and destination weddings as love will always prevail.
